Neptune High School

A School of Excellence and No Excuses

Dear Parents/Guardians:

To follow up on last week’s notification of unauthorized visitors in the building, please know that we have taken a number of steps to further enhance building security.  See below for steps we are taking.

  • An additional safety officer will be assigned to the building after winter recess.
  • I have authorized a review of the incident by our security consultant to offer administration suggestions for further improvement.
  • Students who repeatedly undermine student and staff safety will be sent out for 45 days and will be allowed to return only after providing a successful academic and behavior record.
  • We will pursue expulsion of the known student who opened the back door to unauthorized visitors as well as those who entered the building, once we confirm their identity.
  • NTHS Administration will explore programs for next year that will support positive building climate and conflict resolution.
  • Staff will be visible in the hallways during arrival, dismissal, and passing times.  Staff will also remind students that all visitors must enter through the main office and they are not permitted to open any other doors to allow admission.
  • A community advisory committee will be formed with the purpose of exploring ways community members can support our schools.

Our fundamental responsibility is to ensure student and staff safety.  We take that responsibility very seriously.  Any effort by any individual to undermine the safety and security of our schools will not be tolerated.
