Neptune Nutrition & Food Services
The Board of Education recognizes that good nutrition is an essential part of an effective education, and is committed to providing access to wholesome and nutritious foods on a daily basis, at affordable prices.
All meals served in school cafeterias meet the extensive nutritional requirements established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture’s Office of School Nutrition. These include:
- A variety of fruits and vegetables
- Whole grain products
- Reduced fats and salt
- Serving sizes appropriate to the age group
Neptune also participates in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. This provides free or reduced price meals for families that meet federal income requirements.
The district’s food service programs operate on a nonprofit basis and are managed by Chartwells Dining Services. Questions may be directed to:
