NJ School Performance Reports
Beginning with School Year 2017-2018, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has significantly revised the annual School Performance Reports to align with the requirements of ESSA. These reports are designed to enhance both educator and stakeholder engagement in discussions about how well a school is preparing their students for college and careers.
Enhancements to the new School Performance Reports include:
- A one-page Summary report providing easy-to-read highlights of each school.
- Over two-dozen new data elements, including as teacher and administrator experience, in-school and out-of-school suspensions, industry-valued credentials, and preschool and Kindergarten offerings.
- Summative ratings based on a formula to that combines a few key measures (i.e., proficiency, student growth, graduation and chronic absenteeism). This summative rating is just one part of the overall performance of a school. It is used to determine which schools need the most intense support, and is one way New Jersey ensures all students have access to high-quality education.
